What a way to end the year! A beautiful family all dress up in the Rio Bosque Wetlands Park near the Windmill. The park offers many beautiful backgrounds that can be used year round. The best thing was, we weren’t fighting other photographers and crowds of people like you may experience in other popular El Paso photo locations. We encountered 2 people in the hour and half we were there. As far as my photo business, I had many successes this year and hope to continue into the new year! I wanted to encourage you to hire a photographer to capture your family, sports, events, etc. I’m not saying it has to be me…. but…. you can’t replicate professionally taken photos with a cell phone.
Here are a few of my favorite images from the session.
One thing that definitely stood out in my photos is the beautiful colors of their outfits and the background. It was cloudy this day and I was running out of light quickly. I do not like to use a flash for my outdoor portraiture whether it is family, seniors, or sports. It is not that I do not know how to use it. I never have liked the esthetic of flash, outside of the studio, that lights the ground and surrounding structures. There is nothing like guided posing for candid shots and beautiful golden hour sun. Speaking of sun. The winter poses some potential problems when it comes to taking pictures. Photo sessions have to start around 3:30 but the sun is much softer because it doesn’t rise straight overhead. Versus, the summer sun which can set as late as 8:00pm and can still be harsh around 5:00. But, I much prefer the position of the sun in the summer.
In the picture below, the sun was just about to set. Since it was cloudy, it was much darker than it usually is at the same time. But, it offered some amazing light.
