El Paso’s beautiful rose garden with Genesis!
Vibe Of The Photoshoot
I absolutely love this shot! Everything makes sense. The picture comes together beautifully. The pose. The light. The vibes. The rose. The nails. The tassel. It all came together on this shot. And, it was definitely one that I just saw and opportunity and took it. Thankfully, Genesis was up for it!
Plan Accordingly
My best piece of advice when taking photos at the rose garden is to pay attention to the hours of operation. I love to shoot at golden hour. About 2 hours before sunset. Here in El Paso, when the flowers are in bloom in late spring/early summer, the sun sets between 7:00 and 8:00pm. The park closes at 6:00pm. And, I mean they are locking the gates with you inside at 5:55pm. With that in mind, I plan to be there around 4:30pm. Usually, I will photograph for an hour in the garden and an hour somewhere else.
Take Your Chances!
What I love about the rose garden is the variety of plants and flowers. The only downside is that they aren’t all in bloom at the same time. And, usually when they are…. EVERYONE is there to take pictures. There are many flowering plants there to help match the vibes of your photoshoot. But, it definitely is a gamble when you choose to take photos at the rose garden. The gamble is always worth it!
Incorporate Flowers!
I would say that shooting at the El Paso Municipal Rose Garden you must do your homework to have the best possible outcome!
Know when the park opens and closes.
Know the season. This may require multiple visits to the rose garden to see if flowers are in bloom.
Don’t be afraid if you show up and there are no flowers! I always communicate with my clients to let them know that we may need to reschedule if there are no flowers. Or, have an alternate location in mind.
All the best,
-C
